Alexander Mitsos has moved to RWTH Aachen as a full professor. He grew up in Athens, Greece. He received his Dipl-Ing from University of Karlsruhe in 1999 and his Phd from MIT in 2006, both in Chemical Engineering. His research focuses on optimization of energy systems and development of enabling numerical algorithms. His prior appointments include military service, free-lance engineering, involvement in a start-up company and a junior research group leader position in RWTH Aachen.

Angelos graduated from Imperial College London in 2009 with a Ph. D. in Optimization. Before joining MIT he spent 18 months as a Research Fellow at RMIT University in Australia. Annelies Vandersickel

Annelies graduated from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) of Zurich, Switzerland in 2011 with a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering. Her B.Sc. and M.Sc degrees, she obtained at the K.U.Leuven in Belgium. Currently, her research focuses on thermal solar systems with an emphasis on the modeling of new conceptual designs for both solar receivers as well as geothermal-solar hybrid systems. In her free time, she enjoys reading and experimenting in the kitchen. Annelies has transitioned to TUM in Germany
